Child Protection: Parent Should Know...(#009)

Before, I start to my topic I will narrate a short story. This story is about a two(2) girls, the Girl No. 1 is from poor family and the Girl No. 2 is from an average income earner. The girl No. 1 is the eldest among seven siblings, after her elementary education her mother died due to child birth, after a few months her father marry again and have children too, due to poverty the girl no. 1, stop from going to school and at the age of 14 year old she marry an old man and have many children, she suffered violence from her partner and still under poverty and her children are not studying. The girl No. 2 continued to study and become a professional, have stable job and have a family. She take care of her children and sent them to school to have better future.

Now, lets go back to our topic. Many of us, are familiar about the meaning of Child Protection. But then, let’s take a look for the meaning of the word Child and Protection.  In English Oxford Dictionary a Child is define as a younger human being below the age of puberty or below the legal age of majority and the word Protection is define as the action of protecting or the state of being protected.

The term Child Protection is the term used to describe the action of a certain organization such as Children services, the police and Health organization, in their different effort to make sure children are safe from abuse and neglect. Child Abuse can be physical, emotional, sexual abuse, exploitation and neglect.

We parent are responsible for the growth and development of our children, as well as we served as guide for our children, so that they will grow as better person. In the story above the girl No. 2 on the story studied and have a stable job, taking care her children and send them to school and the girl No. 1 have many children, in poverty and her children not studying. In this situation, it was figure it out that the children in poverty and not studying are most likely to be abused. What the child see with her parent, he/she will adapt it in the future. Just like a cycle from generation to generation. You can also read my previous blog on Parenting Tips at lorvigilia.blogspot.com/Everything blog by L.O.R.E.L.I.E.
The parent must be responsible for the protection of their children. However how a parent protect their child if he/she did not know how to do it or he/she cannot protect her own. This is to extremely emphasized that even the effort of the government agencies or any organization to promote the child protection, if parent themselves will not perform their own responsibility to their children. It is not easy to facilitate this action.
Basically to achieve initiative or action for the protection of children, we the parent must take an action in the first place.
Let’s do our part to take care our children, to protect them; a single contribution with a bigger impact to our community.
