Due to Coronavirus disease (COVID 19) which we are experiencing today in Philippines. Our government implemented that this school year 2020-2021 will adapt the Distant Learning program or the commonly known as "Home school or Home Study" in order to address health measures to prevent the spread of Corona Virus disease.
The opening of classes for this school year was postponed on the month of June and was move to start on month of october this year. No face to face classes will be allowed. Some of the school already open their classess last month and already adapted this distant learning program.
This distant learning program has two learning modalities the synchronous or online class and asynchronous or modular class, the parent and student will choose betwèen this options. But, before that lets us know what is synchronous or online class and asynchronous or modular class all about.
Synchronous or online class is a learning modality that require student and instructor to be online at the same time. It needs internet connectivity.While the Asynchronomous or modular class the instructions, reading materials, recorded lectures, test and assignment that can be assist at any time during a specified period as outline by the teacher or instructor.
These learning modality is quite new to parent and students due to this is only introduce and will be adapted this school year particularly in our town due to the COVID 19 pandemic. It is new to all, thus some negative reactions towards this learning arrangement arises. Well it is expected that students and parent and to include the teachers will undergo adjustments to the present set -up of education. Specially the working parent because in this learning modality the student specifically the Pre-school and Grade school students will be assisted by their parent or guardian on their lessons in their subjects.
So, the parent or guardian will also study the lesson in order to assist their children. Because they will be the one to teach their child based on the module or outline given by the teacher. You know pre schooler and grade school student their age needed assistance in learning instead of their teacher just like before that students and teacher in a classroom teaching their lessons. It was good for stay at home mom they have the time to facilitate their child to study at home but those working parent it is quite difficult to assist their kids to study. Unlike for those in highschool and college they can study their lesson by their own. But any way it is a matter of management for the parent for their younger children to study.
It is encourage that every one must cooperate and help one another for this learning arrangement specially this time. Everything is possible.
But, amidst this present situation of pandemic education will continue... What ever situation comes we can move forwards and continue our lives...
